Building a Future Where Every Learner Thrives—Rooted in 64 Years of Excellence
For over 60 years, Preston Hollow Presbyterian School℠ (PHPS℠) has been dedicated to educating children of average to superior intelligence with mild to moderate learning differences. Founded in 1962 in response to the needs of the community, PHPS was the first school in Dallas created specifically for students who learn differently.
Today, PHPS serves students with learning differences such as reading disorder (dyslexia), auditory processing disorder, oral language disorder, written language disorder, and mathematical disability through an individualized approach designed to build foundational skills, confidence, and independence.
PHPS currently serves students in grades K–5, with our first 6th grade middle school class launching in the 2026–2027 school year. The middle school will continue to grow with the addition of 7th and 8th grades in the years that follow, allowing us to extend our mission and support students as they continue developing the academic and executive functioning skills needed for long-term success. We proudly continue our legacy as a non-profit, private coeducational day school, where students are accepted without regard to race, sex, religion, or national origin.
Since opening our state-of-the-art campus at 4000 McEwen Road, Dallas, TX 75244, PHPS has continued to build on its 64-year tradition of excellence. Our purposefully designed learning spaces support innovative instruction and reflect our enduring commitment to empowering students with learning differences to grow in confidence, capability, and independence.
Mission Statement
Preston Hollow Presbyterian School provides a nurturing, highly personalized school environment that cherishes and supports qualified students with learning differences while challenging them to achieve their full potential. We are committed to facilitating our students' return to mainstream education equipped with strategies for future learning experiences.
Philosophy
Preston Hollow Presbyterian School provides a positive, nurturing, individualized approach to teaching. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that students will succeed and thrive if provided appropriate instruction in the right environment. Our philosophy is not to simply accommodate the classroom environment for learning differences, but rather modify what we teach and how we teach to best match the student’s unique learning profile.
Small classes of from eight to twelve children, with additional support provided by remedial specialists and numerous teaching assistants, ensure small group instruction and many opportunities for one-on-one instruction. Multi-sensory, research-based curriculum provides an opportunity for each student to be challenged and excel. Besides classroom instruction, each child also receives P.E., music, art, and technology instruction. Students in grades K-2 also attend a fine-motor lab. Speech and language therapy is available at school but are not included in the tuition. Students attend a chapel service once a week.
Our school program is designed to help each child grow academically, personally, socially, and spiritually in a positive and supportive atmosphere. It is our goal to return children to the mainstream of education as quickly as possible, with all the tools they need to be happy, successful students.
What Our Families Say About Us
“Preston Hollow Presbyterian School is a place that will be cherished by our family forever. The balance of nurture and appropriate curriculum gave my child her self-confidence back. She was able to thrive at PHPS and left there ready to re-enter her previous school as a stronger and more accomplished student.
I truly believe without PHPS she would have never regained her ability and desire to learn.“
Bonnie, Former Parent
“My son came to PHPS sad and withdrawn, lacking in confidence not only in reading but in school in general. He graduated from PHPS five years later sure of himself, reading above grade level, with many friends and confident he could tackle whatever challenges come his way. PHPS helped him with his reading but also so much more.”
Mindy, Former Parent
