K–5th Grade Academic Overview
At Preston Hollow Presbyterian School, we understand that students with learning differences often need more than a different curriculum. They need instruction designed around how they learn best.
Throughout Kindergarten–5th Grade, our small classes, targeted remediation, multisensory instruction, and highly supportive learning environment allow teachers to understand each student as an individual learner. Students receive the academic support they need while developing the strategies, confidence, and independence that prepare them for continued success.
Strong foundational skills are central to the PHPS experience. Individualized and small-group instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics allows teachers to provide targeted support while helping students build skills they can apply with increasing independence.
Learning how to learn is an essential part of the PHPS experience.
Social-emotional learning, executive functioning, and study skills are intentionally developed alongside academics, helping students better understand themselves as learners and build the tools to organize, plan, prioritize, regulate emotions, and manage responsibilities.
A PHPS education also creates space for students to discover and develop their strengths. Art, music, physical education, Design Lab, and other enrichment opportunities invite students to create, move, collaborate, problem-solve, and explore interests beyond their core academic classes.
Together, these experiences create an academic program that meets students where they are while continually moving them forward. Our goal is to help students strengthen essential skills, recognize their capabilities, and become increasingly confident and independent learners prepared for their next educational setting.
The result is an academic experience that provides meaningful support today while preparing students for greater independence tomorrow.
